Meet the team:
Lewis Hawkins (Sound of the Suburbs) & Steve Lyons (InCrowd Soul Society)
Since 1999, Lewis ‘sings’ has been the main attraction at a variety of popular Ska & Reggae musical outlets throughout Bournemouth, Poole and the home counties. In 2003 he started band promotions in the ‘now’ 02 Bournemouth Academy, Poole Lighthouse, Mr Kyps, Landmarc, Jumpin Jaks, The Centre Stage and for the last five years on Bournemouth Pier.
He also supports associated bands including The Sound Of The Suburbs Band, DJs and uses his promotional skills to organise successful music events which includes a recent record release of ‘ The Specialized Album‘ for Teenage Cancer Trust on Poole Quay .
Lewis’s own personal style brings the Sounds Of The Suburbs to appreciative people at well known establishments right across the South of the England, and during the years he has built up an extremely loyal and regular following as his appearances guarantee an excellent evening’s entertainment.
Bournemouth Promoter & Resident ‘Soul On The Sea’ DJ Steve Lyons who is originally from Burnley and is an ex-Wigan Casino devotee and long time soul music fan. Is one of the South Coast’s longest running and respected Soul DJ & Promoter. In 1992, Steve kick started his own local soul music events at the Woodlands Hall, Poole.
After a successful five years at the Woodlands Hall, a string of additional Bournemouth venues followed which included the Queens Park Club, Marina Club and Cagneys. The InCrowd Soul Society’s current venue is the Belvedere Hotel, Bournemouth which is now in its third year.
Steve and his chosen guest DJ’s play an ‘Across the Board’ mix of Northern Soul, Motown, Modern & Club Soul Classics and have contributed to the continuing success of the ‘Soul On The Sea’ events.
No matter what genre you experienced the music being played, or whether you are you are hearing the music for the first time. You are guaranteed an evening atmosphere where you can meet people you know and make new friends.
